Big Bear Offers a Unique Experience
All Four Seasons
WINTER
HIGH SEASON
November-April. Big Bear is SoCal's #1 winter destination! If you like skiing the 2 main mountains are Snow Summit (8-minute drive) and Snow Valley Mountain Resort (15-minute drive). Sledding is also very popular with a sledding hill just
around the corner from Vista Haus Snow Play at Alpine Magic Mountain (2-minute drive) where a conveyor belt eliminates any hill climbing and they provide cushy snow tubes. Zip lining, 4x4 jeep tours, and horseback riding are available during winter as well. For hiking enthusiasts who want to capture magical winter-wonderland snaps, the trails are open for snow shoeing.

SPRING
BLOOM SEASON
April-May. A favorite season of photographers, Spring in Big Bear brings you the spectacular wild mountain flower bloom. It's also the time that all the wildlife comes out. Visit Pebble Plains or Bluff Lake Reserve to spot animals. Spring is also the best fishing season in Big Bear as the lake finally opens up for boats.

SUMMER
MID-SEASON
June-Aug. Our favorite summer activities are downhill mountain biking on Snow Summit when trails open up early June. We recommend to warmup on the green trails before hitting the blues with a little more speed and attempting the blacks for bragging rights.
Your trip isn't complete without an adventure at the lake. The closest marina is Big Bear Marina where you can rent pontoons for larger group tours or kayaks and SUPS for some more independent fun.
If you like walking we recommend to explore Boulder Bay Park and enjoy the lake view as well as some light bouldering. Hiking is super popular but you will need a $5 Adventure Pass for some trails which you can pick up at your local 7-11. Parking is limited so go early! We recommend to use the All Trails App to navigate the best trails suited to your likes.

FALL
OKTOBERFEST
Sept-Oct. For Southern Californians who don't get the full splendor of the beautiful fall colors, Big Bear won't deny you this missed colorful season. Get some great snaps against colorful vistas.
Downhill bike trails close early October, so be sure to get your rides in for the season before then. Then get ready to enjoy 9 full weekends of Oktoberfest where the town breaks out German traditions and entertainment.
